CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST, PRACTICE DIRECTOR

Alison Mynard

Alison has been working in the mental healthcare industry for over 20-years with a depth of experience across many fields. Alison has a focus on Complex Trauma and Comorbid issues.

Ravina Perera

Ravina is a qualified General Psychologist registered with AHPRA. She is experienced in treating clients suffering from anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma-related disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. She works using a range of therapy modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT). She has conducted assessments for Neurodevelopmental disorders including Learning disorders, intellectual disabilities, and Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Forensic psychological assessments. Ravina is a warm and friendly psychologist who is able to provide high quality counselling from a client centred approach.    

GENERAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Caroline Ogilvie

Caroline’s professional approach is to assist those with a range of age groups and people from various backgrounds who present with a range of mental health issues, disability concerns, relationship issues, anxiety, worry and depression. She works with people and assists with stress management, goal setting, learning assertiveness in relationships, managing grief and loss, promoting health and well-being. Caroline has completed her Master’s Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is registered with The Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) as well as The Australian Counsellors Association (ACA). Her approach modalities
consist of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Narrative and Solution-Focused Based therapies. Caroline has a passion for helping her clients achieve their goals with compassion, empathy and collaboration.

CLINICAL COUNSELLOR

Clarissa Hartshorne

Clarissa is a registered nurse and trained in mental health assessment and treatment. She works with a range of clients and carries out functional adaptive assessments to assist with NDIS and disability support pension applications. Clarissa runs a psychosocial activity group on a weekly basis to enhance the well-being and social connectedness of clients who attend. She also facilitates a English language conversational group with refugees from a range of areas  around the world. Clarissa is a problem focused and solution focused therapist who works with people to achieve their goals and identify barriers and overcome them. Clarissa can see people who are funded through NDIS or privately funded. She is a warm and welcoming clinician, who engages her clients to achieve their goals.

MENTAL HEALTHCARE NURSE

Maya Ballout

Maya is a qualified Occupational Therapist Assistant who is working with the Next Door Psychology team to assist people in the Werribee area with their OT needs.  She is a fully qualified Occupational Therapist from Lebanon, who is currently transferring her qualifications to Australian certifications. Maya completed her studies in Lebanon and is fluent in English, French and Arabic.  

Maya involves a methodological approach in her patient care including skills in working with technical aids and assistive devices. She undertook a variety of internships during university including physical therapy and rehabilitation as well as a focus on the elderly and people with disabilities.  Also working with children, Maya enjoys engaging and assessing their needs, to work with the family and child to improve their quality of life.  

Maya will work to provide a flexible and responsive service that meets each client’s individual needs and goals. She will focus on assessing and providing services across the lifespan to a range of clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, who require support affected by developmental disorders; physical, intellectual, chronic and/or progressive disability; and mental health issues.  

Her role will be to understand how illness, injury, disability, or challenging life events can affect people’s ability to do the day-to-day things that are important for them.   Maya then develops ideas with them for strategies, education and learning, to support them to reach their maximum level of independence and autonomy.  

Omar Abedlhai is Maya’s Occupational Therapist supervisor, working towards full certification in Australia, however, she works independently with her clients.   

Maya charges privately a fee of $96.00 per hour

The NDIS rate for OT Assistant is $86.79 per hour (level 2)

For home or school visits, the NDIS travel fee is $14.46 per 10 minutes

Allied health assistant - Occupational Therapy

Leng Khenglawt

Leng Khenglawt is a registered counsellor with ACA. During her studies, Leng’s focus and practice includes trauma therapy, mental disorders, Christian counselling, working with youth, contemporary issues and grief counselling. Leng is currently studying Master of Counselling. Leng graduated from RMIT with a degree in Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) as well as Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Christian). Leng works closely with the refugee community, particularly the Burmese community. She has worked to dispel the stigma and negative perceptions of mental disorders within the community. Her focus is working with people of all backgrounds and experiences.  Leng arrived in Australia as a young refugee, growing up in different cultures has enhanced her worldview, understanding of different backgrounds. Leng has use her many experiences to help each client in the best possible way.

Counsellor

Child and Adolescent Counsellors

At Next Door Psychology, we have several child and adolescent specialist counsellors, who see school aged children for a range of issues, including school refusal, ADHD, ASD, behavioural issues, anxiety, depression, issues around family separation and learning difficulties. We offer Saturday morning appointments to make these counsellors more accessible out of school hours. NDIS and private paying clients are welcome. Please contact us directly if you wish to book an appointment with one of our child/adolescent counsellors.

Austin Campbell

Austin Campbell specialises in assessment and report writing for clients who are incarcerated or on bail in the community. He is an expert in understanding client’s histories and how their psychological issues impact on their lives and he communicates this well in his report writing. Austin accepts VLA rates and private paying clients.

Psychologist

Aoife Dunne

Aoife works with a range of clients in assessment and counselling. She can conduct forensic assessments and accepts VLA rates and private paying clients. She works with the client to understand their needs, their history and their psychological issues, and works with rehabilitative goals for improvement in their quality of life and functioning. Aoife also is able to engage clients who have drug or alcohol issues, or involvement with Corrections, in order to assist them to reach their goals and work towards improving their mental health.

Emily and Debary

Our reception staff will assist clients to make appointments, take payments, and organise billing through the relevant parties, including NDIS and through lawyers.  We have friendly and approachable reception staff who are happy to assist on the phone, email or in person at front reception.
